Many years ago an idea for a book began to
take root in the corner of my mind. I occasionally made a few notes, scribbled
down a few ideas on scraps of paper and in notebooks, but all in all, I paid it
little heed. Then about four years ago a good friend of mine on her retirement
said to me 'Sara, don't you get to my age and have any regrets'. This gave me
pause for thought and I decided to get my little seedling of a book and see if
I could nurture it into something special. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. So
I wrote and I rewrote, I moulded and shaped my little idea into something that
I am rather proud of. It's not the story that originally took seed all those
years ago. No. That little seedling grew into something quite different, and I
sent it off to as many publishers as I could before I got cold feet. And now,
in four days time - the 31st of March 2023 - my book is due to be published.
The Sum of all Parts - a story told by 6 female narratives - will sit on the
shelves of book shops and, hopefully, in the homes of many. I hope those who
read it will gain some hope, some succour, some enjoyment. As for me, one less
regret and one dream achieved. Now for book number two!
